Book cover design for The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorn.

One of the best things about designing the cover for a classic book is that you get to introduce a piece of literature to a whole new readership that might never approach it otherwise. I wanted to make this cover speak to a younger audience and in putting a contemporary twist on the Puritan style clothing and typography of the period, I was able to tap into the zeitgeist of a stylised gothic rebelliousness, popularised in the Netflix TV series ‘Wednesday’.
